Does anyone know how or if you can add colorants to air dry clay?

I would like to use Crayola’s Air Dry clay for a craft project with some preschool age kids, but need it to be colored because they will be shaping it like a cactus and using spaghetti for the needles and I don’t want the needles to be painted. Any ideas or suggestions. Thanks
